“Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world.” –Martin Luther

What We Receive Through Music

In worship, we sing the truths we learn in Holy Scripture.  Men and women of every generation have expressed the love of Christ in song.  At Ascension, we sing the truths that have been passed down through the generations.  The most ancient hymns of the Church are sung as well as hymns written in our own generation.  Organ and choir often supplement our songs of praise, while brass, strings, and other instruments are also incorporated on occasion.

Building Relationship

Because we sing Holy Scripture set to song, those who sing together naturally grow in their relationship with one another as they grow in their faith.

Growing in Christ

From the time children learn “Jesus Loves Me, This I Know,” they grow in their knowledge of Jesus and their ability to express their faith.  As adults, the same is true with us.  We know that “Jesus [still] Loves Me,” “I Know that My Redeemer Lives,” and “By Grace I’m Saved.”

Those who have musical skill–vocal, instrumental, or other–are encouraged to speak with one of our two Church musicians, Kantor Aaron Doehring or Music Director Monty Gabor. We welcome the opportunity to work with you that your skill may give depth to our worship.
